Theatre Costuming Internship (Summer 2026)

Dates: June — July 2026

Positions Available: 1

Location: In person (Noonan Academy, 19131 Henry Drive Mokena, IL 60448)

Compensation: $50 travel stipend, eligible for college or university credit

Deadline: We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until March 1st, 2026

Time Commitment (in-person): June 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 from 5:30-8:30 PM, July 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 from 5:30-8:30 PM

About Redline Theatre Company
Redline Theatre Company is a dynamic, emerging organization dedicated to cultivating artistry, community, and authenticity in the next generation of theatre makers. We focus on:

Responsibilities

  • Assist with alterations and costume preparation

  • Attend fittings and help maintain accurate measurements and wardrobe documentation

  • Organize and maintain the wardrobe racks, accessories, and quick-change needs

  • Support backstage costume operations during tech week and performances (prepare stage managers or fellow actors to assist with quick-changes backstage)

  • Collaborate with the design team on research, sourcing materials, and assembling reference boards (Redline Staff will source all of the items)

  • Sort through costumes Redline Theatre Company owns and create “looks” for each character, as well as inform Redline staff of items that will need to be acquired

  • Participate in remote planning meetings between June 1 to 8 before in-person rehearsals with Redline Staff

Qualifications

  • Current college student or recent graduate with interest in costume design, wardrobe, fashion, or theatre production

  • Basic sewing skills

  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and collaborative spirit

  • Previous experience in costuming or wardrobe is preferred, but not required

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, participants will gain:

  • Practical experience in costume construction, maintenance, and wardrobe management

  • Experience collaborating with directors to create and costume a musical

  • A deeper understanding of how costumes support storytelling

  • A portfolio-ready experience credit for future artistic and technical pursuits
